Michael Rooker will play Savant, a villain connected to the DC comics Bat-Family, in James Gunn’s upcoming live-action DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad.

Savant was first introduced in Birds of Prey #56, by Gail Simone and Ed Benes.
Savant, aka Brian Durlin, was a privileged heir to an enormous fortune who aspired to become the vigilante hero of Gotham City before Batman threw a wrench into his plans. Savant then took a different path. He put his formidable computer hacking skills to work and set out on his new mission: discovering the true identity of Batman.
True to his name, his high IQ serves him well, but he struggles with forgetfulness and a non-linear memory. This turned out to be a mixed blessing when it helped him resist torture and interrogation by agents of the Secret Society of Super Villains, while his distorted sense of time left him in constant mental agony for quite some time afterwards.

While previous Suicide Squad alumni Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) will return, The Suicide Squad introduces Savant and a slew of other newcomers including Peacemaker (John Cena), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Polka-Dot Man ( David Dastmalchian), Weasel (Sean Gunn) and Thinker (Peter Capaldi).
The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters and HBO Max on August 6th, 2021
